Chris Bumstead, widely known as CBUM, has recently announced his return to the Open category for the upcoming Praga Pro 2024. This decision has taken many by surprise, especially considering Bumstead’s incredible success in the Classic Physique division, where he has clinched four consecutive Mr. Olympia titles.
This participation marks a significant return to his roots. CBUM earned his IFBB Pro card in the Open category during his teenage years. His transition to Classic Physique was marked by a focus on aesthetics and symmetry, which he mastered to achieve legendary status. However, competing in the Open will allow him to showcase a larger, more muscular physique, as there are no weight limits in this division.
“Y’all said I had a decent physique and should try competing… so I figured I’d give it shot.
One more run just for fun, giving the people what they want. 3 weeks out @evls_prague_pro_official Open Bodybuilding. I started my competing career in open bodybuilding, with no expectations, just for the love of the sport. So why not finish it in the same fashion.”

Embracing the Challenge
Bumstead’s approach to this competition is refreshingly laid-back. He clarified that his motivation is not to compete for a title or secure a spot at the Mr. Olympia, but rather to enjoy the experience and challenge his physique in new ways. This attitude signifies a shift from the intense pressure of title contention to a more explorative phase of his career. He’s eager to push his physical limits and see how far he can go in this category.
An Exciting Event for Fans
Fans can anticipate witnessing a unique version of Chris Bumstead at the Praga Pro. Free from the restrictions of Classic Physique, he will likely present a different aesthetic and strength. His participation is expected to create a buzz and offer an exciting spectacle for bodybuilding enthusiasts.
